Garage Belmondo collection wouldn’t be complete without a Renault 16, the quintessential French movie car of the 70’s and 80’s. The granddaddy of all modern hatchbacks, R16 has loads of character and is surprisingly usable even in today’s traffic. Simple, reliable engine, beautifully light & airy interior, and seats more comfortable than your sofa.
This is a one-owner family car, purchased by a Czechoslovak Airlines flight captain on October 3, 1967 in Prague. He babied the car, installing seat covers immediately after purchase, and drove it in fair weather only. Fifty years later, we have acquired this wonderful survivor from his daughter. A mechanical refreshment was carried out, including the brakes, suspension, and ignition. Wheels have been refinished and fitted with new tyres in correct profile. Cosmetically, the car is in fantastically preserved condition with absolutely zero rust. The original Bordeaux Red 721 paint has been corrected to bring back its lustre, and the whole car has been detailed.
Overall, a wonderful survivor with charming patina and an affordable entry into classic car ownership.
